I can’t wait to see this film, it was a very special day for many many people. I remember I think we were leading 3-0 at half time and people still thought we would get beat. Nutters.
Well done boys. X
Cheers Paddy! It’s a dream come true to be working on this and getting to meet some of our heroes from when we were young. eep checking the site for updates!!
I was working at St James’ on that day, in catering. My job was to keep all the shops in the South Stand stocked up. In reality, I’d go in early and stock the hell out of each shop so they’d never run out, then find myself a seat for the game.
I’ll never forget that goal, as I’d gone on a bit of a wander and ended up in the Milburn stand, in one of the access tunnels talking to a steward I knew. We were perfectly in line with Albert when he struck it, and my immediate thoughts were; ‘what’s he doing?’, you know, trying to lob Schmeichel and that. It seemed to float through the air in slow motion, and then when it went in there was sheer bedlam.
Will we ever see a team like that again in Black n White? I bloody hope so…
Great memories, and I’m looking forward to the film.
Looking forward to this! Unfortunately I was born whilst ‘The Entertainers’ was going on & so never got to fully appreciate just how good we were, apart from being the saddest child known by staying in & watching 90’s season reviews & reading up constantly on the players involved, hence my childhood nickname ‘statto’. To the backend of last season I had to watch games like the 5-0 quite a lot to remind me how good things were, because honestly I was loosing interest!
